By Elena

Many of us struggle with understanding who we are and finding ourselves within our lives. Especially for teenagers, finding ourselves can mean many things, and can be extremely difficult, more so when you have a tight circle of people you know. However, there are still many ways you can find yourself and know who you are.

Understand your passions

All of us have plenty of passions that make up who we are and what that means for us. To find yourself, you have to understand what your passions are and understand why they are your passions. These passions make you who you are. They’re what drives you and your motivations.

To understand your passions, you have to understand why they are your passions. Why are you driven? Why do these passions make you believe what you do, and how have they shaped you? These questions can help you understand your passions.

If it helps, make a list. Make a list of what you love to do, what you’re passionate about, and what you believe your place in the word is. Writing these down can help you see the truth behind these passions and help you understand where they stem from. Perhaps there’s something in common between them, or perhaps they point you in a certain direction.

Only by understanding these passions and understanding where they come from can you begin to understand who you are and find yourself.

Accept your shortfalls

Your insecurities do not define you, however you do have to understand that they are a part of you. You have your shortfalls because you’re only human, and because they are a part of yourself.

To help yourself understand and accept your shortfalls, check out this post. These shortfalls aren’t only a part of you, but they can also become ways to drive you. Your shortfalls don’t have to become you, but they can be key in helping you find yourself.

Accepting your shortfalls is one of the first steps you can take to understand who you are. Without understanding what your insecurities or what you aren’t that great at are, you can never fully understand who you are as a person, and understand what some of your driving factors are.

Just like with your passions, you can make a list of these to help you understand these further and understand what these mean. Both your passions and shortfalls are critical for you to understand how you can find yourself and how to be yourself. Accepting each and every part of yourself as a critical part of you is something that you absolutely have to learn how to do if you’re ever going to find yourself.

Sometimes, the best way to find yourself is to do a bit of research. Look into what kind of professions interest you, what you love, what you don’t, there’s an endless list of things you could research to find who you are, and what you are.

Researching can help you understand each of these aspects of yourself, and help further yourself in your journey. Yes, you have to be patient, but many of these aspects of yourself are only aspects you can find if you actively search for them and make moves to figure out.

We’re complex beings, with complex thoughts and feelings. These aren’t things you can always understand without doing a bit of research. These complexities can be way too complicated to know without first understanding through research.

However, don’t let what you find scare you. Yes, some of what you might find can be extremely daunting, but you shouldn’t let that scare you from understanding who you are and what drives you. What you find will be vast and sometimes overwhelming, but these aren’t things tat you should allow yourself to get scared by.

Be patient

Finding yourself isn’t something that can happen overnight. This takes time, and a lot of thought. Just because others around you have found themselves, doesn’t mean that you have to as well. This journey takes time, and it’s different for everyone.

Being patient with yourself is the only way that you can keep yourself from getting too frustrated with yourself to be able to find yourself. Finding yourself is a journey you must take, and can’t be rushed, or else it just takes longer.

Being patient with yourself will help you make the decisions you need to make to find yourself. Don’t get frustrated, no matter how long it takes, as many people never completely find themselves in their lifetime, or even take steps to do so. By reading this article, you’re already ahead of them on this front.
